Attempt to Keep the Archives of Muhammadiyah

 

One of the efforts that have been made by the Library and Information Council (MPI) of Muhammadiyah Central Board to keep the archives is conducting cooperation with various stakeholders. In addition to the continuous improvement, MPI also conducted an MoU with the National Archives of Republic of Indonesia (ANRI).

“We sincerely hope that MPI stores the archive in ANRI. We will maintain and care for them, then the archives can be shared to public, especially for researchers or those who want to find a source of reading, " said Prof. Dr. Danang Kahmad, M.Si., the representative of ANRI in his speech at a national working meeting of MPI at Campus III Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) on Thursday (5/5/2016)

Furthermore, Danang Kahmad said that archiving in Muhammadiyah was very important. Besides many heroic figures of Muhammadiyah, the documents about the roles of Muhammadiyah leaders also needed to be archived so that people could access and study Muhammadiyah.

“Although MPI and UNRI are two different institutions, cooperation between the both institutions are very important to us. It is because Muhammadiyah have an important role in developing Indonesia” Danang said.

The event which took place in auditorium of campus III UAD lasted until Saturday (07/05/2016). Besides signing MoU, there was Speed Drawing Launching of Muhammadiyah Profile, RadioMu and Muhammadiyah Radio Network.
