Photovoice Anak Jalanan di UAD

Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) Yogyakarta bekerja sama dengan University of South Africa (UNISA) mengadakan penelitian “Voicing and Empowering the Vulnerable Group through Indigenous Community Psychology”. Implementasi dari kerja sama ini berupa gelar photovoice (suara foto).

Gelar photovoice pertama telah berlangsung April lalu dengan peserta dosen dan karyawan perempuan di Fakultas Psikologi. Semantara yang kedua, peserta merupakan anak jalanan perempuan di Yogyakarta. Sebelum memamerkan hasil photovoice, para anak jalanan mengikuti workshop selama tiga hari sekali 9-11 Juli 2018.

Penelitian ini didanai LPPM UAD melibatkan dosen dari UAD dan UNISA. Di antaranya Prof. Mohammed Seedat dari UNISA, Dr. A.M. Diponegoro, Elli Nurhayati, Ph.D., dan Dessy Pranungsari, M.Psi, ketiganya dari UAD.

Penelitian ini mengambil subjek delapan anak jalanan perempuan di Yogyakarta dan mengikutsertakannya sebagai bagian dari tim peneliti untuk menentukan tema foto dan persiapan pergelaran karya photovoice.

Elli Nurhayati, mewakili peneliti menjelaskan, gelar photovoice yang menggandeng anak jalanan perempuan tersebut untuk memperingati hari anak nasional pada 23 Juli. “Kegiatan ini untuk melihat sisi lain kehidupan anak-anak jalanan Indonesia. Banyak dari mereka yang harus berada di jalanan untuk menyambung hidup. Bahkan beberapa sudah ada yang memiliki anak.”

Ia mengingatkan masih ada banyak pekerjaan rumah yang harus diselesaikan di Indonesia, utamanya menyangkut anak-anak. Anak jalanan memiliki hak untuk mengenyam pendidikan dan hidup layak sebagaimana anak-anak pada umumnya. Ia berharap, dengan photovoice ini akan memberi stimulus kepada orang lain untuk lebih peduli terhadap anak jalanan.

Gelar photovoice diselenggarakan di green hall kampus 1 UAD, Jln. Kapas 9, Semaki, Yogyakarta, Sabtu (21/7/2018). Delapan anak jalanan perempuan yang ikut berusia 12-18 tahun yang sehari-hari bekerja di lesehan kopi jos, sepanjang Malioboro dan alun-alun utara Yogyakarta.

Anak-anak jalanan perempuan ini sebelumnya dikenalkan mengenai fotografi, membuat narasi, mendiskusikan masalah keseharian, pengambilan foto, dan mendiskusikan hasil foto untuk pameran. Selain itu, anak-anak ini juga diajak memanfaatkan fotografi sebagai alat untuk menyuarakan dan menyampaikan isu-isu yang berdampak dalam kehidupan mereka.

Mustika, salah satu peserta mengungkapkan susahnya saat mengambil gambar. “Susahnya saat banyaknya orang lewat, gelap, kesenggol-senggol. Paling susah lagi saat membuat narasi untuk menjelaskan fotonya,” terang gadis berusia 14 tahun ini.

Dari yang diungkapkannya, setelah membuat narasi dan foto, ia merasa lega. Sebab bisa membagikan dan menceritakan sedikit dari kehidupannya di jalanan kepada orang-orang. Mustika juga senang mendapat ilmu baru, meskipun ia dan teman-temannya hanya memotret menggunakan gawai seadanya. (ard)

UAD Won the First Place in PCTA 2018

Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) Yogyakarta proved itself to be the best by managing to be the champion of Parade Cinta Tanah Air (PCTA) competition in 2018 in Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), which was held by Representatives of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Indonesia DIY on July 18th, 2018 at the Public Bureau building of Setda DIY.

A total of 22 participants from universities and high schools participated in the competition. UAD team managed to outperform the team from UIN Sunan Kalijaga as the second winner and UGM in the third position.

Dr. Dedi Pramono, M.Hum., the Head of Bureau of Student and Alumni (Bimawa) UAD revealed that the annual activity which was held by the Ministry of Defence of RI was a very good thing to do to increase the youth’s understanding to be nationalistic.

"With the understanding of being a nationalist, the younger generation can avoid the dangers that can harm their love for the country," he said when interviewed on Friday (20/7/2018), in campus 1 of UAD on Jln. Kapas 9, Semaki, Yogyakarta.

The UAD team, represented by Akbar Asmar (second semester) and Vivi Lutfia (fourth semester) from Law Study Program, Faculty of Law, UAD presented an essay on campus-based rehabilitation as an effort to realize the younger generation’s awareness on the dangers of drug abuse and being a nationalist. Both were accompanied and guided by Gatot Sugiharto, S.H., M.H.

As the tutor, Gatot conveyed that in addition to having to write an essay, to participate in the competition students needed to have skills, such as singing, poetry reading, playing a musical instrument, or dancing.

"The team finished the essay in two days. During the competition, the quality and originality of the writing becomes an important value. There was also an oral test for 15 minutes. Alhamdulillah, UAD team becomes the top three," he explained.

During the presentation, Akbar and Vivi displayed their talents and artistic skills by singing and playing the guitar with a song entitled "Zamrud Khatulistiwa", which is a song made popular by Chrisye.

He added that each region needs an alternative in the rehabilitation process of drug abusers. Therefore, on campus, there needs to be a concept to prepare a tool that can be used for social rehabilitation.

Akbar and Vivi said that Indonesia was a cultured country that must be aware of drug abuse. In addition to revealing the problems, both of them conveyed solutions about how to overcome drug abuse, mainly in the campus environment.

In 2017, the National Anti-Narcotics Agency (BNN) said the death rate from drug abuse reached 11 thousand people per year, or 40 people per day. (ard)

PGSD Study Program of UAD Holds Teacher Ethics Seminar

Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Study Program of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), in collaboration with School Cooperation Board (BKS) Yogyakarta, held a Seminar on "Soft Skill and Teacher Ethics” with a theme of "Social Competence and Producing a Superior Teacher".

The seminar was held on Unit B of UAD campus 2 on Jln. Pramuka, Yogyakarta on Saturday (21/7/2018) and was attended by principals and teachers of Muhammadiyah elementary schools in West Yogyakarta. The Chairman of the committee, Rohimah, S.Pd., explained that there would be a follow-up after the seminar was held, which was the implementation of programs and activities that had been planned.

Meanwhile, the Head of PGSD Study Program, Dra. Sri Tutur Martaningsih, M.Pd., said that PGSD UAD had been providing assistance for teachers of Muhammadiyah elementary schools who had busy schedule. She stated that all this time, the teachers’ desire to develop themselves was very big.

"Teachers have a very important and major role. The challenge they face is also great because they must understand culture and character education," she explained as one of the speakers, along with Dr. Khoiruddin Bashori, M.Si.

She added that 21st century challenges for educators included morals, moral character and performance character, competence, and openness to new knowledge and literacy. Therefore, she expressed her wish that educational institution managers continue to work hard to produce next golden generation of 2045.

On the other hand, the Vice Chairman of PDM of Yogyakarta, Heniy Astiyanto, S.H., said that teachers had two roles, namely that in front of the students and in front of the society. "If a teacher is not seen as a good person by the society, then it will not have a good impact for the school. Therefore, teachers should have a good personality," he said. (ard)

UAD Raih Juara Pertama PCTA 2018

Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) Yogyakarta berhasil menjadi yang terbaik dengan menjadi juara satu lomba Parade Cinta Tanah Air (PCTA) tahun 2018 tingkat Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY) yang diadakan Perwakilan Kementerian Pertahanan Republik Indonesia DIY pada 18 Juli 2018 di Gedung Biro Umum Setda DIY.

Perlombaan ini diikuti 22 peserta dari perguruan tinggi dan SMA sederajat. Tim UAD berhasil mengungguli tim dari UIN Sunan Kalijaga sebagai juara dua dan UGM yang menempati posisi tiga.

Dr. Dedi Pramono, M.Hum., Kepala Biro Kemahasiswaan dan Alumni (Bimawa) UAD mengungkapkan, kegiatan tahunan yang digelar Kementerian Pertahanan RI itu sangat bagus untuk memupuk pemahaman dan karakter cinta tanah air generasi muda.

“Dengan pemahaman cinta tanah air, generasi muda dapat terhindar dari bahaya yang dapat merusak kecintaannya kepada negara,” paparnya ketika diwawancarai, Jum’at (20/7/2018), di kampus 1 UAD, Jln. Kapas 9, Semaki, Yogyakarta.

Tim UAD atas nama Akbar Asmar (semester dua) dan Vivi Lutfia (semester empat) dari Program Studi Ilmu Hukum Fakultas Hukum UAD mempresentasikan esai tentang rehabilitasi berbasis kampus sebagai upaya mewujudkan generasi sadar bahaya penyalahgunaan narkoba dan cinta tanah air. Keduanya didampingi dan dibimbing oleh Gatot Sugiharto, S.H.,M.H.

Sebagai pembimbing Gatot menyampaikan, selain harus menulis esai, untuk mengikuti lomba mahasiswa harus menmiliki keterampilan seperti menyanyi, berpuisi, bermain alat musik, atau menari.

“Tim menyelesaikan esai selama dua hari. Saat lomba, kualitas dan orisinalitas tulisan menjadi nilai penting. Kemudian ada uji oral selama 15 menit oleh juri. Alhamdulillah tim UAD masuk tiga besar,” terangnya.

 

Prodi PGSD UAD Adakan Seminar Etika Guru

 

Program Studi Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar (PGSD)Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (FKIP) UniversitasAhmad Dahlan (UAD) bekerja sama dengan Badan KerjaSama Sekolah (BKS) Yogyakarta menyelenggarakan Seminar “Soft Skill dan Etika Guru”. Tajuk yang diangkat mengenai “Kompetensi Sosial dan Akhlak Membentuk Guru yang Unggul”.

Seminar diadakan di kampus 2 UAD Unit B, Jln. Pramuka, Yogyakarta, Sabtu (21/7/2018) dan diikuti kepala sekolah serta guru SD Muhammadiyah wilayah Yogyakarta Barat. Ketua panitia, Rohimah, S.Pd., menjelaskan, setelah seminar akan berlanjut pada implementasi program dan kegiatan yang telah direncanakan.

Sementara itu, Ketua Program Studi PGSD, Dra. Sri Tutur Martaningsih, M.Pd. mengatakan, PGSD UAD telah melakukan pendampingan bagi guru SD Muhammadiyah yang memiliki aktivitas padat. Ia mengungkapkan selama inikeinginan para guru untuk mengembangkan diri sangat besar.

“Guru memiliki peran sangat penting dan utama. Tantangannya juga besar karena harus memahami budaya dan pendidikan karakter,” paparnya sebagai salah satu pembicara bersama Dr. Khoiruddin Bashori, M.Si.

Ia menambahkan, tantangan abad 21 bagi para pendidik meliputi akhlak, karakter moral dan karakter kinerja, kompetensi, serta keterbukaan wawasan dan literasi. Oleh karenanya ia berharap pengelola institusi pendidikan harus terus bekerja keras untuk menghasilkan output generasi emas 2045 mendatang.

Di sisi lain, Wakil Ketua PDM Kota Yogyakarta, Heniy Astiyanto, S.H. mengatakan, guru mempunyai fungsi dua wajah, yaitu di mata siswa dan masyarakat. “Jika di mata masyarakat guru tidak baik, maka tidak baik juga bagi sekolah. Untuk itu guru harus memiliki kepribadian yang baik,” tandasnya. (ard)

Peksimuda, UAD Student Competition

 

Student Art Week of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (Peksimuda) has just been completed and the winners of the several competition branches have been decided. More than 150 students participated in the event which took place from July12-14, 2018.

UAD Rector, Kasiyarno, M.Hum., stated that although UADwas a Muhammadiyah Islamic institution, it was not opposed to art. According to him, we could also use art as a medium for preaching.

"Art must be preserved. Do not let others claim our cultural products. For now, students must be able to develop their interests and talents. UAD is ready to support and facilitatestudents to develop their talents," he explained.

He added that UAD students had great cultural art potential that still could be developed. Their potentials could result inachievements that brought good impact to the university.

"The students should make use of their talent well, because in the future it can be useful for their professions. Students must have the required skills and abilities as a stepping stone. Comparative potential and talent must also be utilized, not only academic skills. Student potential should be sharpened, whatever the field is," said Kasiyarno.

On the other hand, Dr. Dedi Pramono, M.Hum., the Head of Bureau of Students and Alumni Affairs (Bimawa) revealed that Peksimuda was an event to look for those from UAD who had potential to be developed to later participate in Peksimida.

"The activity aims to increase the student motivation, achievement, productivity, as well as to put it in SKPI(Diploma Supplement)."

To improve the quality of the students’ works in order to be able to compete with other universities in Peksimida, the chosen champions from each branch will be taught by designated artists or writers as the mentors.

Some branches of the competition include keroncong, pop, semiclassical and classical singing, group vocals, dangdut, poetry writing, short stories, plays, poetry reading, monologue, painting, photography, calligraphy, comic strips, poster design and MTQ. (ard)

Peksimuda, Ajang Kompetisi Mahasiswa UAD

Pekan Seni Mahasiswa Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (Peksimuda) telah selesai diselenggarakan dan menemukan pemenang pada beberapa tangkai lomba. Acara yang berlangsung sejak 12-14 Juli 2018 ini diikuti lebih dari 150 mahasiswa.

Rektor UAD Dr. Kasiyarno, M.Hum. menyampaikanmeskipunUAD lembaga Islam Muhammadiyahtidak anti terhadap seni. Menurutnya seni bisa menjadi media untuk berdakwah.

“Seni harus dilestarikan, jangan sampai produk kebudayaan ini diakui oleh yang lain. Untuk sekarang ini mahasiswa harus mampu mengembangkan minat dan bakatnya. UAD siap mendukung dan memfasilitasi,” jelasnya.

Ia menambahkan, potensi seni budaya mahasiswa UAD sangat besar dan bisa dikembangkanPotensi bisa memberi prestasi dan berdampak baik kepada perguruan tinggi.

Bakat harus ditekuni dengan baik, sebab ke depan bisa jadi profesi. Mahasiswa harus memiliki keterampilan dan kemampuan sebagai batu loncatan. Keunggulan komparatif harus dimanfaatkan, bukam cuma akademik komparatif saja. Potensi harus diasah, apa pun bidangnya,” tandas Kasiyarno.

Sementara Dr. Dedi Pramono, M.Hum., Kepala Biro Mahasiswa dan Alumni (Bimawa) mengungkapkan, Peksimuda merupakan ajang untuk mencari bibit-bibit muda dari UAD untuk mengikuti Peksimida.

Arahnya, kegiatan ini untuk meningkatkan semangat mahasiswaprestasiproduktivitas, dan mengisi SKPI.”

Untuk meningkatkan kualitas karya dan agar mampu bersaing dengan perguruan tinggi lain di Peksimida, para juara terpilih dari masing-masing tangkai lomba akan belajar dengan mentor seniman maupun sastrawan yang telah ditentukan.

Beberapa tangkai yang dilombakan antara lain nyanyi keroncong, pop, seriosavokal grup, dangdut, penulisan puisi, cerpen, naskah lakon, baca puisi, monologlukisfotografikaligrafikomik strip, desain poster, dan MTQ. (ard)

Tawheed Study at UAD IC Mosque

Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) Yogyakarta organized a tawheed study with K.H. Abdullah Gymnastiar (Aa Gym) and Ustaz Wijayanto as the speakers. The event that took place at the Islamic Center Mosque of UAD was attended by people from the community, lecturers, employees, and students.

In his speech, UAD Rector. Kasiyarno, M.Hum., conveyed that as one of the Islamic universities, UAD provided scholarships for prospective students who could memorize at least five Juz of Al-Qur’an.

"This event aims to strengthen tawheed and aqeedah, so that students can understand the true Islam."

Moreover, when interviewed on the issue of terrorism, Kasiyarno revealed that there were no terrorists on campus. "Campus has its own system to solve the problem of terrorism. There are rules and Islam teaching. However, we are still keeping a watch, because anything that concerns with terrorism can happen anytime," he said.

In line with Kasiyarno, Aa Gym firmly stated that terrorism had nothing to do with Islam. Evildoing is not taught in Islam.

"We should be proud to be a Muslim. Islam is rahmatan lil alamin (blessings to the whole world and its content). Now, our duty is to prove the beauty of Islam, by actively spreading the truth when false information is widely believed," he told reporters on Sunday (15/07/2018). (ard)

Kajian Tauhid di Masjid IC UAD

Universitas Ahmad Dahan (UAD) Yogyakarta menyelenggarakan dakwah berjamaah kajian tauhid dengan pembicara K.H. Abdullah Gymnastiar (Aa Gym) dan Ustaz Wijayanto. Acara yang berlangsung di Masjid Islamic Center UAD ini dihadiri jamaah dari kalangan masyarakat, dosen, karyawan, dan mahasiswa.

Pada sambutannya, Rektor UAD Dr. Kasiyarno, M.Hum. menyampaikan, sebagai salah satu perguruan tinggi Islam, UAD memberikan beasiswa bagi calon mahasiswa yang hafal minimal lima juz Alquran.

“Ini untuk menguatkan tauhid dan akidah, agar mahasiswa memahami Islam yang sebenarnya.”

Kemudian saat diwawancarai mengenai isu terorisme, Kasiyarno mengungkapkan bahwa tidak ada teroris di kampus. “Kampus memiliki sistem tersendiri untuk mengatasi masalah terosisme. Ada aturan dan mengajarkan Islam. Tetapi kami tetap waspada, karena apa pun yang menyangkut terosisme bisa terjadi kapan saja,” tandasnya.

Senada dengan Kasiyarno, Aa Gym dengan tegas menyatakan teror tidak ada kaitan dengan Islam. Keburukan tidak diajarkan dalam agama Islam.

“Sebagai seorang muslim, harus bangga menjadi Islam. Islam itu rahmatan lil alamin. Sekarang tugasnya berlomba-lomba menjadi bukti indahnya Islam, dengan cara aktif menyebarkan indahnya Islam saat informasi semakin carut-marut,” terangnya kepada wartawan, Minggu (15/7/2018). (ard)

Visiting UAD, Lecturers from JICHI Japan Give Presentation in a Studium Generale

Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) Yogyakarta organized a studium generale with two speakers from Japan, Prof. Hiroshi Nishino and Associate Prof. Mashiko from JICHI Medical University. The event was held in collaboration with The Council of Higher Education, Research and Development (Diktilitbang) of Central Board of Muhammadiyah (PP Muhammadiyah).

Rector of UAD, Dr. Kasiyarno, M.Hum., expressed his gratefulness to the two speakers who had been willing to share their experience and knowledge in the field of health. He stated that he wished in the future there would be cooperation between UAD and JICHI Medical University.

"After the studium generale, we expect there will be cooperation between UAD and JICHI. The cooperation can be in the field of research, student exchanges, public lectures, and others which are related to the scientific field of health," said Kasiyarno in his speech on Wednesday (18/07/2018).

If the cooperation can be realized, its implementation can be done with the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Faculty of Public Health of UAD. The three faculties have health background, which is in accordance with JICHI Medical University.

It must be noted that JICHI Medical University was established to educate an ethical dedicated doctor to provide medical care in remote areas of Japan with limited medical assistance. It also aims to promote health and wellbeing of people living in the countryside, and contribute to the advancement of medicine. (ard)
