FMIPA Improved the understanding of Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics Implementation

In order to improve the quality of biology teaching, the study program of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Ahmad Dahlan (FMIPA-UAD), Yogyakarta held a public lecture delivered by a keynote speaker Prof. Dr. Helmut Erdmann from Flensburg University of Applied Sciences, Tuesday (11/29/2016).

The public lecture was attended by students of semester 5 and 7 entitled "Introduction of Biotechnology: Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics". "This activity aimed to improve understanding of the implementation of molecular biology and bioinformatics for biology students. "This event is an effort dealing with global challenges in the future," said Iwan Tri Yanto Riyadi, S.Si., MIT., Public Relation of FMIPA UAD.

Moreover, Iwan explained that this event was divided into two stages. On Tuesday, November 29, 2016 was exclusively for students of semester 5 and 7. Meanwhile, earlier stage of public lecture was for students of semester 1 and 3 delivered by Dr. Budi Setiadi Daryono from the Faculty of Biology UGM.

At the event, the students were very enthusiastic in participating the public lecture. They conducted group discussions internally to formulate questions that will be addressed to the speakers.

"We hope that this public lecture can help students to develop their knowledge in the field of biology in line with the latest information technology developments." Iwan said. (Doc)
