A Deliberation Forum with BEM Criticized the “Kekinian” Culture in Indonesia

The Student Executive Board (BEM) of Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) was trusted to host the National Seminar and Deliberation Forum for Student Executive Boards in Yogyakarta which was entitled "Pancasila, Mass Organization Constitution and Democracy". The event took place at the auditorium of Campus 1 UAD on Jln. Kapas 9, Semaki, Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta on Saturday (20/1/2018).

Present as the speakers of the event were the Director of Police Intelligence DIY, Police Commissioner Nanang Juni Wawanto, S.IK., Lieutenant Colonel Jaelan, Kasiter Korem 072 Yogyakarta, Dr. Prabawa from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Yoeke Indra Agung L., S.E., Chairman of DIY DPRD, and First Admiral Jaya Darmawan from the Ministry of Politics, Law and Security of Republic of Indonesia.

This event was the opening of a series of the Deliberation Forum and was the 6th forum held by BEM DIY Forum since its establishment on July 16th, 2012. The determination of the theme was inseparable from the issues that were going on in Indonesia, including issues on Pancasila, mass organizations and democracy. BEM DIY Forum was attended by 55 public and private universities in Yogyakarta.

The President of BEM UAD, Heru Astar, stated that the purpose of this forum was to motivate students to fight against radicalism. According to him, students had to have a critical attitude and have a role as one of the parties that control the nation.

Meanwhile, Dr. Abdul Fadlil, M.T., Vice Rector III, appreciated the performance of BEM of UAD and other universities on the organisation of the 2018 Deliberation Forum.

"We really appreciate the performance of BEM. Although public protest is not prohibited, nowadays students are prioritizing the audience. It usually results in discussion and constructive inputs, "he explained.

Furthermore, Fadlil considered the seminar that was held relevant to the condition of Indonesia at the meantime. The seminar could be a place for intergenerational dialogue between leaders and future leaders. The ongoing BEM Forum can be one of the guarantees of the sustainability of Republic of Indonesia. UAD Satu-satunya Perguruan Tinggi yang Mendapat Apresiasi CSR

Sebanyak 27 perusahaan menerima penghargaan apresiasi Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) 2017 yang diselenggarakan Sindo Media (Sindo Weekly, Koran Sindo, dan Sindonews.com). Dari sekian perusahaan, hanya satu yang berasal dari perguruan tinggi, yaitu Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD).

UAD menerima apresiasi CSR dalam bidang pendidikan di The Ballroom Hotel Aryaduta, Jakarta, pada Kamis (25/1/2018) malam. Penghargaan tersebut tidak luput dari kontribusi UAD terhadap dunia pendidikan. Rektor UAD, Dr. Kasiyarno, M.Hum. yang mewakili menerima penghargaan tersebut mengatakan bahwa dunia pendidikan penting diperhatikan, apalagi masih banyak sekolah yang jauh dari layak.

Tahun 2017, UAD melakukan gerakan nyata di dunia pendidikan setelah membangun Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Muhammadiyah (MIM) Wonosobo. Sekolah yang berdiri sejak 1980-an tersebut dibantu UAD karena sudah tidak layak.

“UAD memberikan bantuan sekitar 3,5 miliar untuk membeli tanah guna membangun dan mengisinya,” terang Kasiyarno.

Sekolah yang terletak di Dukuh Wonosobo, Banjarejo, Tanjungsari, Gunungkidul tersebut tidak hanya dibantu di bagian bangunan dan isinya, tapi juga diberikan pelatihan dan pemberian gaji guru.

Pihak CSR menilai, kontribusi UAD terhadap sekolah sangat besar sehingga layak mendapat penghargaan. Selama ini, CSR memang dikenal memberikan apresiasi kepada perusahaan yang berkontribusi besar terhadap masyarakat dan lingkungan melalui program tanggung jawab sosial perusahaan.

Pemberian penghargaan ini terbagi ke dalam beberapa kategori yang terdiri atas lingkungan, pendidikan, kesehatan, budaya, pemberdayaan masyarakat, pemberdayaan ekonomi, pemberdayaan desa, olahraga, dan inovasi komunikasi CSR.

Apresiasi CSR 2017 dihadiri Menteri Desa, Pembangunan Daerah Tertinggal, dan Transmigrasi Indonesia, Eko Putro Sandjojo, BSEE., M.B.A. serta Menteri Koperasi dan Usaha Kecil dan Menengah Republik Indonesia Drs. Anak Agung Gede Ngurah Puspayoga.

An Effort to Maintain Peacefulness through Books

Intellectual Property Rights Center (HKI) of Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD), in collaboration with the Regional Library and Archive Board (BPAD) DIY, held a book discussion on Merawat Perdamaian: Metode Sistem Peringatan Dini Konflik. This book is the fourth work of Dr. Hadi Suyono, S.Psi., M.Si., a lecturer of Psychology study program, UAD.

The event held on Thursday (18/1/2018) in the hall of Islamic Center at Campus 4, UAD on Jln. Ringroad Selatan, Tamanan, Banguntapan, Bantul, presented three reviewers, including Intelligence Deputy Director of DIY, AKBP Suswanto, SIK., M.Si.; the Head of National Unity and Politics DIY, Agung Supriyanto; and a lecturer of FIB UGM, Prof. Dr. Syamsul Hadi, S.U., M.A.

The head of BPAD, represented by Drs. Bambang Budi Sulistyo, M.M., in his opening speech at the opening of the event emphasized the importance of increasing reading interest and making it a habit or culture. However, the books that are read must also have a good quality, such as the one written by Hadi Suyono.

"From reading, a masterpiece may be created. This book review is the first one conducted by BPAD in 2018. Hopefully this book is not only in reviewed on campus, but also in village libraries which are prone to conflicts," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of UAD Research and Development Institute, Dr. Widodo, M.Si., who represented the rector, expressed his expectation for UAD lecturers to more actively write quality books. The books written can be based on both thesis and dissertation.

"We deeply appreciate the publication of this book. Hopefully, the book Merawat Perdamaian is useful and can be an early warning system for the problems that exist in Indonesia."

Meanwhile, the three reviewers conveyed similar ideas on the importance of preventive action for a conflict not to become worse. Conflict management is urgently needed in Indonesia where people with various differences live together. (ard)

UAD Jadi PTM Percontohan

Kunjungan edukasi merupakan salah satu program yang sering dilakukan oleh perguruan tinggi untuk berbagi pengalaman dalam hal pengelolaan kampus. Selain mengukuhkan hubungan baik antarperguruan tinggi, tujuan utamanya mempelajari program maupun sistem yang dapat meningkatkan kualitas perguruan tinggi itu sendiri. Sabtu (27/1/2018), Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) mendapat kunjungan edukasi dari Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi Muhammadiyah (STIEM) Bandung.

 

Dari yang disampaikan Abin, S.E.,M.M., perwakilan dosen dari STIEM, tujuan ke UAD untuk belajar, khususnya di Program Studi Manajemen, Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis (FEB).

 

“Jauh-jauh dari Bandung. kami ingin belajar banyak hal dari UAD yang saat ini sudah terakreditasi A BAN-PT. Salah satu yang ingin kami gali perihal kurikulum berbasis KKNI.”

 

Selain itu, pada kunjungannya, ia dan rombongan ingin sharing antardosen terkait lanjutan pendidikan gelar doktor dan sharing antarmahasiswa. Abin beranggapan, UAD menjadi salah satu Perguruan Tinggi Muhammadiyah (PTM) yang menjadi percontohan untuk mengembangkan dan meningkatkan kualitas sebuah perguruan tinggi.

 

Acara yang dilangsungkan di auditorium kampus 1 UAD, Jln. Kapas 9, Semaki, Yogyakarta, juga dihadiri oleh perwakilan dosen dan mahasiswa FEB UAD. Pada sambutannya, Dr. Salamatun Assyadiah, M.Si., Dekan FEB, menjelaskan, kunjungan edukasi bermanfaat untuk menambah ilmu dan relasi. Di sisi lain, akan membuka referensi baru perihal pengembangan perguruan tinggi. (ard)
