Kuda Sarpin of UAD Wins the 1st Place in I3E Event

The Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) of the Republic of Indonesia held Indonesia Innovation Innovator Expo (I3E) on Thursday-Sunday (25-28/10/2018) at Jogja City Mall. This event is a medium for innovators to showcase their work to the public about innovation-based startup products. The event was initiated by the Directorate General of Innovation Enhancement to showcase the innovation from Indonesian millenials.

At this national event, a team from Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) won the 1st place in the category of innovation competition with Kursi Beroda dengan Sarung Tangan Pintar (Kuda Sarpin). Kuda Sarpin Team consists of Ahmad Yogaswara, Iqbal Cahya Kurniawan, and Muhammad Annas from Electrical Engineering study program, and Ferosa Ardina Wardani from the Faculty of Public Health (FKM). The supervisor of the Kuda Sarpin team is Anton Yudahana, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.

From Ahmad Yogaswara's explanation, the production of Kuda Sarpin was motivated by the fact that people with disabilities were not able to optimally use public facilities. "For example, they have difficulties with the lack of access to transportation, building, education and employment services and those become obstacles in the daily lives of people with disabilities."

Meanwhile, Anton Yudhana conveyed that he and his team were ready to promote technological innovation products produced by the nation's youth, especially UAD, to the wider community. Therefore, the results of innovation from the innovators will really have benefits for the community.

The I3E 2018 exhibition involved 261 technology innovation startups. The participants come from various regions in Indonesia. Among them are from the fields of food, health, information technology, material exports, transportation, defense technology, renewable energy, and disaster management.

This event has the theme of "Startup: Optimism for the Nation". The I3E has been implemented for the past three years which is a means for technology-based startup companies to start dealing with markets, investors and wider stakeholders.

Before winning one of the categories in this event, Kuda Sarpin team is qualified in the top 10 finalists of the 11th National Student Exhibition of Information and Communication Technology (Gemastik) of 2018. The team was included in the 10 finalists in the division of Smart Devices, Embedded Systems and IoT. (ard/doc)
