The Importance of Following Up Research Results for Community Service Programs

Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) Yogyakarta held a National Seminar on Community Service Results on October 27, 2018. The seminar that was held at Jambuluwuk Hotel Malioboro was attended by 51 speakers and 4 participants from various public and private universities, including Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), Universitas PGRI Madiun, Universitas Widya Dharma, Universitas Kristen Petra, Politeknik Kediri, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo, Universitas Aisyiyah Yogyakarta, and of course, UAD, as the host.

"The theme of 'Following Up Research Results through Sustainable Service Program' was deliberately chosen considering the lack of research carried out by lecturers in universities which were followed up as a community service program," said Dr. Widodo, M.Sc., as the Head of LPPM in his speech.

Dr. Muchlas, M.T. as the Vice Rector I of UAD also stated the same thing. According to him, universities indeed needed to increase the Technology Readiness Level (TKT), which did not only stop at scientific studies at university level. Instead, the usefulness of the research results must be directly felt by the community through community service programs. Therefore, he gave the highest appreciation for the implementation of the seminar.

"To get to advanced TKT level, cooperation is needed. When only basic science is applied, it will be difficult to arrive at level 7 to 9. So, the results of the research are only finished as a report and the community cannot enjoy the results. Therefore, the following up of the results of a study is important to be applied," said Dr. Okid Parama Asitin, M.Sc., as the main speaker as well as a reviewer of the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM).
