UPHEC 2018 to Improve Quality of Life

 
Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) held an international seminar entitled "UAD Public Health Conference (UPHEC) 2018: Improving Quality of Life through Multisectoral Collaboration" as the closing event of the 57th Anniversary (Milad) event series. The event was held in collaboration with the Faculty of Public Health (FKM) and Faculty of Psychology of UAD.
 
From the chairman of UPHEC 2018, Dr. Nurul Qomariyah, M. Med., Ed., the purpose of this event was to gain a better understanding of problems, opportunities, and policy challenges faced by Indonesia and other countries, especially in conducting multisectoral collaboration to improve quality of life.
 
"The desired outcome is to promote multisectoral collaboration to improve the quality of life and promote the latest research in the field of quality of life," she said.
 
The event which was held at Royal Ambarrukmo Hotel on Wednesday to Thursday (21-22/2/2018) presented speakers from several ASEAN countries. Dr. Riskiyana Sukandhi Putra, M.Kes., from the Directorate General of Public Health of Kemenkes RI came as the keynote speaker.
The plenary speakers included Dr. Lee Shih Hui (UTM Malaysia), Lina Handayani, S.K.M., M.Kes., Ph.D. (UAD Indonesia), Dr. Raysul Haque (IUB Bangladesh), Eli Nurhayati, M.PH., Ph.D. (UAD Indonesia), and Ma. Teresa G. De Guzman, Ph.D. (UP Philippines).
 
Prof. Sarbiran, M.Ed., Ph.D., Vice Chancellor IV UAD, in his opening speech at the opening ceremony explained that the international seminar could increase public trust and add insight for the participants. Lecturers and students, especially UAD, are advised to frequently follow the international events.
 
"This seminar indicates that UAD is already internationally known. If so, we think it is time for FKM to start providing Master program. As for Faculty of Psychology, it is time to have Doctorate program since it has already have the Master program," he explained. (Ard)
