MATHEMATICS STUDY PROGRAM
The Mathematics Study Program is committed to conducting high quality higher education in the field of mathematics that is trusted by the community and is supported by adequate facilities and teaching staff competent in their fields. Students do not only learn basic mathematical skills, but also learn to analyze problems mathematically, model them, and make computational simulations of the solution. Students will also gain adequate knowledge and insight about mathematical concepts and applied mathematics in various fields. Many problems in the fields of industry, engineering, biology, health, science, business, and economics can be solved by mathematical modeling and computer simulations. Therefore, we need people who have the knowledge and expertise in computer simulations from mathematical models, and are able to analyze and communicate the results of their simulations to other parties. The concentration emphasized in the curriculum of the Mathematics Study Program is mathematics and scientific computing. Scientific computing is the science that integrates the tools, methods and theories needed to solve a mathematical model by utilizing computer simulations. Computational science includes modeling, simulation and analysis of a phenomenon in the fields of science and engineering through computing. The graduates of Mathematics Study Program will get a Bachelor of Science degree (S.Si.).
Vision
To become a superior study program in mastering global quality mathematics and scientific computing that is integrated with Islamic values
Mision
- To organize lectures on mathematical topics with scientific computational approach
- To carry out mathematical research in the fields of science, engineering and practical life
- To establish cooperation and service to the community in the fields of mathematics and computing
- To implement Islamic values in all aspects of study program activities
Objectives
The objectives of Mathematics Study Program include:
- To produce competent graduates in mathematics and computing based on moral and Islamic values
- To produce research that is beneficial for the development of mathematics and its applications
- To make contributions in solving various problems in the society and the development of science and technology
- To develop a network of cooperation to improve the quality of Tri Dharma (Three Pillars of Higher Education)
Graduates Prospects
Graduates’ profiles can be grouped into 3 categories: scientists (lecturers, teachers, researchers), managers (in banks, government instances, state-owned companies, insurance, industry), and entrepreneurs (consultants, educational institutions, IT).
Competencies
The graduates of Mathematics Study Program are reliable human resources in the fields of mathematics and scientific computing with entrepreneurial skills to compete in the job market or to create jobs. Graduates have a complete understanding of mathematical concepts, are able to think deductively, inductively, logically, analytically, structurally, and systematically in understanding and solving problems.
Lecturers
The study program has 1 Professor, 2 lecturers with doctoral degree, 4 with master’s degree, and 1 lecturer who is currently pursuing a doctoral degree. The lecturers are graduates from Indonesian and foreign universities, such as UGM, ITB, UMT and UTHM Malaysia, with a number of expertise areas, such as Analysis, Applied Statistics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Algebra, and Soft Computing.
Supporting facilities
The academic activities are supported by a number of facilities, such as lecture rooms equipped with LCD and Computating and Statistical Data Analysis Laboratory. Other facilities also include digital library (http://digilib.uad.ac.id), free internet access, and various kinds of scholarships available for students (Bidikmisi, BBM, PPA, supersemar, scholarships from UAD partner banks).
