PHYSICS STUDY PROGRAM
Physics Study Program of UAD was established on December 19th, 1994 with the Decree of Directorate General of Higher Education Number 102/D/O/1994. The Study Program is established with the purpose of meeting the needs of pure science-based graduates who are also skilled in applied sciences, in accordance with the demand of scientific and technology development. Physics study program is committed to organize a quality study program with a good governance. Thus, Physics Study Program always obeys the education regulations by conducting accreditation assessment by the Board of National Accreditation for Higher Education (BAN-PT) every five years that has been conducted in 2002, 2007, 2012 and in 2016, when the study program was accredited with A with Decree Number 1665/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/V/2017. With the A accreditation for both Universitas Ahmad Dahlan and the study program, Physics Study Program obtains the recognition as one of 23 best national physics study programs, along with the physics study program of ITB, UI, UGM, ITS, IPB, Undip, UNS, UB, Unair and 13 other physics study programs which are accredited with A by BAN-PT.
At the beginning of its establishment, Physics Study Program occupied UAD’s campus I, located on Jalan Kapas. In 1999, Physics Study Program began to occupy campus III of UAD, located on Jalan Prof. Dr. Soepomo with an integrated laboratory that is located not far from campus III. Meanwhile, starting from the academic year of 2017/2018, Physics Study Program has been occupying campus IV of UAD, located on Jl. Ring Road Selatan, Tamanan, Banguntapan, Yogyakarta. Physics Study Program began accepting new students in 1995 by opening one class. The accepted students were from the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Central Java, West Java and West Nusa Tenggara. In its development, the number of students keep growing and the study program accepts students from various regions in Indonesia. The culture of striving for achievement is always attached to the students of Physics Study Program. This is proven, among others, by various student achievements: gold medalist in PIMNAS XVIII in the name of Dian Agus Maryanto, third place winner of Tapak Suci in Brawijaya International Open of 2012 in the name of Miftakuddin, first place winner of Tae Kwon Do in Setu Mok’s Tae Kwon Do Competition of 2016 in the name of Fitriadi Nur Alfakhri, and gold medalist in iFINOG of 2018 at Universiti Malaysia Pahang in the name of Nurul Wulandari.
Since 2012, Physics Study Program has developed a technology-based business under PT Adi Multi Kalibrasi. Calibration and Test Laboratory business unit of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (LKU-UAD) has obtained KAN accreditation and is granted an operational permit from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia to calibrate medical devices. Currently, LKU-UAD has provided calibration and other metrology services in various institutions and hospitals. LKU-UAD also has a business branch in Makassar. Physics Study Program students get to immediately experience the practice of medical instrument calibration in an actual environment. Physics study program graduates with metrological competences that meet the standards can be immediately accepted to work at LKU-UAD, even before the graduation procession.
CIRNOV (Center for Integrated Research and Innovation) – research and innovation center that concentrates on research development in the field of infrared sensors for national defense and security, renewable energy, and advanced materials; already has a strategic partnership with LPDP, LAPAN, PT PINDAD, and the Ministry of Defence of Indonesia.
