Seminar Nasional Islam dan Peradaban Ilmu

Pesantren Mahasiswa Ahmad Dahlan (Persada) Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) bekerja sama dengan Dosen Muslim Indonesia (DMI) menyelenggarakan seminar nasional bertajuk “Islam dan Peradaban Ilmu”. Acara ini diselenggarakan di auditorium Masjid Ahmad Dahlan, kompleks Islamic Center kampus 4 UAD, Jln. Ringroad Selatan, Tamanan, Bantul, Yogyakarta, Sabtu (24/2/2018).

 

Pada kesempatan sambutan sekaligus membuka acara, Dr. Muchlas, M.T., Wakil Rektor I, mengharapkan apa yang disampaikan pemateri dapat memberi pencerahan dan menambah wawasan mengenai Islam, utamanya bagi mahasiswa. Di sisi lain, ia juga menjelaskan bahwa Muhammadiyah memiliki pandangan Islam berkemajuan. Artinya, ada sinergi antara Islam dan keilmuan.

 

“Dari seminar ini, semoga disemaikan banyak gagasan dan ide untuk menjadikan wajah Islam rahmatan lil alamin yang tercermin dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, khususnya dalam hal keilmuan,” ungkapnya.

 

Acara ini menghadirkan Dr. Hamid Fahmi Zarkaysi, M.Phil., dari UNIDA Gontor dan Agus Purwanto, D.Sc., dari ITS Surabaya. Keduanya merupakan pakar dalam bidang Islam dan Peradaban.

 

Sementara, Ketua DMI Dr. Fredy Kurniawan M.Sc., mengungkapkan, acara yang menggandeng UAD ini merupakan langkah nyata DMI setelah berdiri 2017 lalu. Dari penjelasannya, ada berbagai kegiatan yang akan diselenggarakan seperti workshop, seminar, serta diskusi terkait karya dosen muslim. Tujuan dari kegiatan tersebut agar masyarakat bisa mengetahui, dan dapat diaplikasikan secara nyata.(ard)

UAD Acquisition Saved BPRS Carana Kiat Andalas

Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) Yogyakarta acquired Sharia Rural Bank (BPRS) Carana Kiat Andalas. This step was taken by UAD to save BPRS which is located in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, from bankruptcy. The aids given by were in the forms of additional capital, deposits, and management assistance to improve finances.

Drs. Safar Nasir, M.Si., UAD Vice Rector II, explained that since it was acquired by UAD, BPRS Carana Kiat Andalas experienced a good financial development. UAD is currently the controlling shareholder and has assigned Safar Nasir as the President Commissioner.

"Historically, BPRS was established to anticipate loan sharks. The near bankruptcy was due to less intense management. UAD then offered help by giving a fund of around 4.5 billion rupiah," explained Safar.

Before UAD acquired BPRS, the loss suffered by the bank was estimated to be 500 million rupiah. In 2016, the loss decreased to 131 million. Based on the data on the bookkeeping as of January 2018, it has gained about 45 million rupiah of profit. It means, 27 months after UAD took over in September 2015, there were significant financial improvements.

"We want to implement a good work culture and management in BPRS. In addition, UAD acquisition is aimed at providing social, economic, and academic benefits," he explained during a visit to BPRS Carana Kiat Andalas on Thursday (15/2/2018).

The expected social benefits include fighting against loan sharks, opening up new jobs, and stimulating the growth of micro business. Economically, it is expected that BPRS can reduce student tuition and provide scholarship. Meanwhile, the academic benefit of BPRS includes providing research laboratory for lecturers and students. The Role of UAD in Developing Processed Cassava

Gunungkidul Regency is one of the food supplier regions of Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). In the last 2 years, raw food materials such as cassava and sweet potatoes have been experiecing a decrease in production due to land conversion. Responding to this issue, Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD), with several agencies and institutions, work together to increase the production of raw food materials, especially cassava.

This cooperation is realized by planting high quality cassava seeds in Kemiri Village, Tanjungsari Sub-district, Gunungkidul on Wednesday (21/2/2018). Dra. Sudarmini, M.Pd., from UAD Institute of Community Service (LPM) and one of the initiators of processed cassava (mocaf) explained that initially this program was initiated by MPM PWM of DIY.

"We do not work alone. UAD deals with the finishing process because it has Food Technology Study Program. Meanwhile, UMY deals with the starting process because it has Faculty of Agriculture. In addition, there is assistance from Bank Indonesia as well as the involvement of Mocaf Suryatani Community and Women Farmers of Ngudi Sari," he explained.

Sudarmini added, before the establishment of Food Technology study program, this program has been managed by LPM UAD and supported by students of Student Study Service (KKN). All UAD KKN students in Indonesia have a mocaf processing program.

"UAD has a role in assissting the community in the management of mocaf. In addition, there are many KKN students whose programs is to conduct a training on processing raw materials of mocaf to be nutritious processed products that have economic selling value," he said. (Ard)

UAD Host Rakernas Majelis Dikdasmen Muhammadiyah

Majelis Pendidikan Dasar dan Menengah (Dikdasmen) Pimpinan Pusat Muhammadiyah mempercayai Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) Yogyakarta sebagai host Rapat Kerja Nasional (Rakernas) 2018. Terakhir kali Rakernas dilangsungkan pada 2015 silam. Tema yang diusung pada kesempatan ini mengenai “Penguatan Manajemen menuju Sekolah/Madrasah/Pesantren Muhammadiyah Berkemajuan”.

 

Dalam sambutannya, Rektor UAD Dr. Kasiyarno, M.Hum., selaku ketua panitia penyelenggara dan Wakil Ketua Dikdasmen menyampaikan perlunya persepsi yang sama antaranggota dan lembaga terkait untuk menghadapi permasalahan pada pendidikan dasar dan menengah Muhammadiyah. Selain itu, dibutuhkan strategi untuk menghadapi tantangan yang semakin beragam.

 

“Melalui Rakernas ini, kami berharap dapat menemukan solusi untuk mengatasi permasalahan maupun tantangan bagi pendidikan dasar dan menengah di Muhammadiyah. Jika tidak ditangani secara serius, ini akan berdampak pada produk pendidikan yang tidak baik dan berdampak juga pada penurunan kepercayaan masyarakat,” tandasnya.

 

Kasiyarno menambahkan, Rakernas ini untuk menambah wawasan, memperkuat kemampuan lembaga pendidikan dasar dan menengah Muhammadiyah, dan memperkuat visi menuju taraf internasional. Selain itu juga untuk menyosialisasikan program kerja majelis dalam rangka pembinaan berkelanjutan.

 

Sementara itu, Ketua PP Muhammadiyah Dr. Haedar Nashir, M.Si., pada kesempatan yang sama berharap, dengan Rakernas ini sistem pengelolaan Dikdasmen mengalami akselerasi kemajuan.

 

“Majelis Dikdasmen harus berkerja dengan serius agar mampu bersaing dengan sekolah-sekolah konvensional. Saat ini banyak sekolah konvensional yang juga telah mengedepankan nilai-nilai Islam. Harus ada terobosan agar lembaga penyelenggara pendidikan Dikdasmen memiliki keunggulan dari sekolah lain.” (ard)

Kunjungi UAD, UM Malaysia Kuatkan Kerja Sama

Program Studi Bahasa dan Sastra Arab Fakultas Agama Islam (FAI) Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) Yogyakarta mendapat kunjungan dari University of Malaya Malaysia. Kunjungan ini dalam rangka memperkuat kerja sama yang sudah berlangsung hampir 8 tahun. Dari penjelasan Ketua Program Studi Bahasa dan Sastra Arab, Abdul Mukhlis, S.Ag.,M.Ag., kerja sama luar negeri ini merupakan salah satu yang terlama di UAD.

“Agenda terbaru, kerja sama antarperguruan tinggi ini meliputi Penelitian Luar Negeri dan Publikasi Ilmiah (PKLN-PI).  Judul penelitian yang kami angkat mengenai Konsep Makna antara Kamus Arab-Indonesia dan Arab-Malaysia dan Pengaruhnya dalam Terjemahan al-Quran. Ini merupakan skim unggulan yang melibatkan mahasiswa Program Studi Bahasa dan Sastra Arab dari UAD, UM, dan UiTM Malaysia,” jelasnya.

Selama ini, kerja sama yang dilakukan melingkupi program pertukaran pelajar, join research, seminar internasional, penerbitan jurnal bersama, kuliah umum, dan yang akan segera berlangsung kemah bahasa antarnegara.

Sementara Prof. Dr. Haji Mohammad Bin Seman, pengajar dari University of Malaya Malaysia, mengemukakan alasannya memilih UAD untuk bekerja sama karena sejarah perjuangan KH. Ahmad Dahlan.

“Di Yogyakarta banyak sekali perguruan yang bisa kami ajak kerja sama. Tetapi, kami lebih memilih UAD sebagai partner. Ini ialah soal hati, Ahmad Dahlan memiliki sejarah panjang dalam perjuangannya berdakwah agama Islam,” tandasnya.

Dari UAD dan Indonesia, Seman mengaku banyak mempelajari kebudayaan Islam dan keilmuan yang tidak didapatkan di Malaysia. Begitu juga dengan Mukhlis, kerja sama kedua pihak memberikan pengalaman dan pengetahuan baru terkait perkembangan Islam dan memperkuat silaturahmi antarnegara.(ard)

UPHEC 2018 untuk Tingkatkan Kualitas Hidup

Sebagai penutup rangkaian acara milad ke-57, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) menyelenggarakan seminar internasional bertajuk “UAD Public Health Conference (UPHEC) 2018: Improving Quality of Life through Multisectoral Collaboration”. Acara ini terselenggara atas kolaborasi Fakultas Kesehatan Masyarakat (FKM) dan Fakultas Psikologi UAD.

Dari penjelasan ketua panitia UPHEC 2018, Dr. Nurul Qomariyah, M. Med.,Ed., tujuan diselenggarakannya acara ini untuk mendapatkan pemahaman yang lebih baik mengenai permasalahan, kesempatan, dan tantangan kebijakan yang dihadapi Indonesia dan negara lain. Khususnya dalam mengimplementasikan kolaborasi multisekor untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup.

“Luaran yang diinginkan adalah mempromosikan kolaborasi multisektoral untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup dan mempromosikan riset-riset terbaru dalam bidang quality of life,” ungkapnya.
Acara yang diselenggarakan di Hotel Royal Ambarrukmo, Rabu sampai Kamis (21-22/2/2018) menghadirkan pembicara dari beberapa negara ASEAN. Sebagai keynote speaker Dr. Riskiyana Sukandhi Putra, M.Kes., dari Direktorat Jenderal Kesehatan Masyarakat Kemenkes RI.

Sebagai plenary speakers antara lain Dr. Lee Shih Hui (UTM Malaysia), Lina Handayani, S.K.M.,M.Kes.,Ph.D. (UAD Indonesia), Dr. Raysul Haque (IUB Bangladesh), Eli Nurhayati, M.PH.,Ph.D. (UAD Indonesia), dan Ma. Teresa G. De Guzman, Ph.D. (UP Philippines).

Prof. Sarbiran, M.Ed.,Ph.D., Wakil Rektor IV UAD, dalam sambutan sekaligus membuka acara menjelaskan, penyelenggaraan seminar internasional dapat meningkatkan kepercayaan masyarakat dan menambah wawasan bagi para peserta. Dosen maupun mahasiswa, khususnya UAD, disarankan untuk sering mengikuti agenda bertaraf internasional.

“Seminar ini menandakan UAD sudah dikenal internasional. Jika demikian, kami mengira sudah saatnya FKM untuk membuka program S2. Kemudian untuk Psikologi karena sudah memiliki S2, tinggal menambah S3,” paparnya.(ard)

UAD Gave Nine Billion Rupiah of Funding to Build A New Building for UMSB

Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) Yogyakarta took part in helping construction of a new building at Muhammadiyah University of West Sumatra (UMSB). This development is a consortium of three Muhammadiyah Universities (PTM) including UAD, UM Surakarta, and UM Malang with a total cost of 21 billion rupiah.

This consortium aims to assist UMSB which is the oldest PTM in Indonesia to be more advanced. In terms of development, UMSB is left behind compared to other PTMs. This is the reason why the Central Leadership (PP) of Muhammadiyah has a special interest in forming a consortium for UMSB to grow and become a superior university in West Sumatra.

Drs. Safar Nasir, M.Si., UAD Vice Rector II revealed that UAD was asked by PP Muhammadiyah to help physically, non-physically, and mentor the development of UMSB.

"UAD donated 7 billion rupiah of funding and lent 2 billion as a bailout that has not been able to be withdrawn yet by one PTM," he said during a visit to UMSB on Friday (16/2/2018).

The 21 billion rupiah was used to build a six-story building with 55 rooms. The bulding occupies approximately 5,500 square meters of land. Despite experiencing a delay, the current development process has reached 90 percent of the total development.

On the other hand, the Vice of Daily Coach Board of UMSB, Drs. Adly Etek S., expressed his gratitude to UAD who has given 9 billion rupiah of funding. "The three consortiums agreed to give 7 billion each. However, currently the funding that has been accepted is only 19 billion, so we borrow 2 billion from UAD to pay off the contractor," he explained. (ard)

UAD Sends Lecturers and Employees for Umrah to Develop Spirituality

A total of 40 lecturers of Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) Yogyakarta conducted a small Hajj (Umrah) in 2018. The delegation departed on Tuesday (13/2/2018) and was officially released by UAD Rector, Dr. Ir. Kasiyarno, M.Hum.

"Alhamdulillah, there are 40 lecturers departing for Umrah this year. Every year, UAD is committed to sending lecturers and employees for Umrah. Next year, employees are going to be sent as well, Insha Allah. "

This commitment aims to build the spirituality and is a form attention given by UAD to lecturers and employees. Welfare cannot be measured only physically, but also spiritually. Speaking before the lecturers sent for Umrah, Kasiyarno warned them to anticipate the extreme weather.

"Some of the lecturers who are currently departing have performed Hajj and Umrah before, I think. Nevertheless, hopefully their worship can be done without any obstacles and they are given excellent health to perform the worship well," he explained in the main courtroom of Campus 1 UAD on Jln. Kapas 9, Semaki, Yogyakarta.

It is worth noting that in 2018 UAD increased Umrah's fees for lecturers and employees, which is previously only 60% is now increased to be 75%. The rest is borne by the prospective worshippers.

During the release, Vice Rector III, Dr. Muchlas, M.T., who accompanied the Rector appealed to lecturers to temporarily ignore WhatsApp group as well as social media. He asked them to be more concentrated and solemn in their worship. (ard)

Andil UAD Kembangkan Olahan Singkong

Kabupaten Gunungkidul merupakan salah satu wilayah penyangga pangan Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY). Dalam kurun 2 tahun terakhir, bahan baku pangan andalan seperti singkong dan ketela pohon mengalami penurunan produksi akibat alih fungsi lahan. Dari permasalahan ini Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) bersama beberapa lembaga dan instansi bekerja sama untuk meningkatkan produksi bahan baku, khususnya singkong.

Kerja sama ini direalisasikan dengan penanaman bibit singkong berkualitas di Dusun Kemiri, Desa Kemiri, Kecamatan Tanjungsari, Gunungkidul, Rabu (21/2/2018). Dra. Sudarmini, M.Pd., dari Lembaga Pengabdian Masyarakat (LPM) UAD dan salah satu penggagas olahan singkong (mocaf) menjelaskan, dari awal program ini merupakan inisiasi MPM PWM DIY.

“Kami tidak bekerja sendiri. UAD di hilir karena memiliki Program Studi Teknologi Pangan dan UMY di hulu karena punya Fakultas Pertanian. Selain itu ada bantuan dari Bank Indonesia dan keterlibatan Paguyuban Mocaf Suryatani dan Wanita Tani Ngudi Sari,” terangnya.

Sudarmini menambahkan, sebelum berdirinya Teknologi Pangan, program ini sudah dikelola oleh LPM UAD dan didukung mahasiswa Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN). Semua mahasiswa KKN UAD di Indonesia memiliki program pengolahan mocaf.

“UAD memiliki andil pendampingan masyarakat dalam pengelolaan mocaf. Selain itu, banyak dari mahasiswa KKN yang program kerjanya mengadakan pelatihan pengolahan bahan baku mocaf menjadi produk olahan bergizi dan memiliki nilai jual ekonomi,” tandasnya.(ard)

 

The Main Objectives of UM Bengkulu’s Visit to UAD

University of Muhammadiyah Bengkulu (UMB) conducted a visit to Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) Yogyakarta. The purpose of the visit was to share the management system of Muhammadiyah Higher Education (PTM) and other related issues. Dr. Rifai, M.Pd., a representative of UMB in his speech stated his wish to learn and gain knowledge from UAD that was just accredited A from BAN-PT a few months ago.

"We have conducted comparative studies to some PTMs, and UAD became one of the main destinations. We want to study the human resources, quality assurance, finance, and some other things," explained Rifai when delivering his speech in the rectorate courtroom in Campus 1 UAD on Jln. Kapas 9, Semaki, Yogyakarta on Wednesday (7/2/2018).

Meanwhile, Vice Rector I, Dr. Muchlas, M.T., in his speech delivered the achievement of UAD in getting accredited A which was thanks to the good performance of all the involved parties. He stressed that one of the efforts that had been done was conducting internal audit on a regular basis.

"For a year, we audited three to four times. This is as a control to avoid misappropriation and to resolve things that still need improvement," he said.

At the meeting, Muchlas presented with Vice Rector II, Drs. Safar Nasir, M.Si., accompanied by the Head of BPM, BIFAS, as well as some representatives from other bureaus and agencies in UAD. Over the past few years, before accepting the accreditation of A, UAD carefully considered advice and inputs from the stakeholders and auditors. UAD accepts criticism given as a reference to continuously improve its quality to get nationally and internationally acknowledged. (ard)
