Jabal Rahmah, a book containing notes and events about literary encounter at IKIP Muhammadiyah-Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) Yogyakarta, has been officially launched. The launch of this book is a form of appreciation and reminiscence to Drs. Jabrohim, M.M., as a lecturer of Indonesian Language and Literature Education (PBSI) study program and Head of Community Service Organization (LPM) UAD who officially retired as a civil servant in 2017.

The launching ceremonies and literary gatherings to commemorate Jabrohim's retirement were held at the Tjokro Style Hotel on Monday (25/12/2017). Scholars and practitioners in the fields of art, literature, and culture presented at this event. The event was sponsored by the Forum of Literature Appreciation of PBSI UAD and the Society of Poetics Indonesia.

Prof. Suminto A. Sayuti, a prrofessor at one of top universities in Yogyakarta and Drs. Tirto Suwondo, the Head of Central Java Language Center were also present as the speakers. They and Jabrohim strived together to revive literature when UAD was still called IKIP Muhammadiyah.

"I still remember very well how UAD used to be a place where famous Indonesian literary figures, such as WS. Rendra, Sutardji Calzoum Bachri, Abdul Hadi WM, Emha Ainun Nadjib, and others gathered in Campus 2 UAD," Suminto explained when talking about UAD.

In line with Suminto, Tirto Suwondo who is an alumnus of UAD conveyed that with the spirit of Jabrohim at that time, almost all the great writers of Indonesia often held a gathering in the campus on Jln. Pramuka 42.

"In addition to being a meeting place, with his high spirit, Jabrohim can guide young UAD students into talented writers. His contribution in the fields of art and culture should be given appreciation," said Tirto

 Although Jabrohim has retired, he declared that he would continue to be active in the fields of art and culture, especially at LSBO PP Muhammadiyah. (ard)

Ahmad Dahlan Robotic Competition (ADRC) was held again at the end of 2017. The competition that has been routinely held for the last 6 years was joined by students from various parts of Indonesia. The main headline of this event was "Developing Potentials of Young Generation in the Field of Robotics".

Taking place in Basiyo Building of XT Square on Wednesday (27/12/2017), 122 teams took part in the event and were divided into 2 categories. The category of line follower robot was joined by 75 teams, while the sumo robot was joined by 47 teams. The participants of the event were students of elementary, junior, and senior high school who were willing to compete for trophies from the governor, mayor, and UAD.

Dr. Abdul Fadlil, M.T., Vice Rector III, in his speech at the opening ceremony said that ADRC could provide positive benefits for millennial generation. Representing Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD), he highly appreciated the organization of this robot contest.

"This event is a pride. Sustainability is very important. Thank you for the hard work and innovation of the committee and all those who have supported this event, especially all the participants. "

Each year, there is an increase in the number of the participants of the competition. ADRC becomes a place to share knowledge and experience related to robotics field. In the future, technology will be more advanced and sophisticated. Progress will only be realized if the younger generation is introduced with technology from an early age. The love for technology has to be increased steadily, complemented with new creations and innovations.

"Devices made with technological innovation will not prosper humanity if humans do not master the technology. Indonesia must be independent in technology. Hopefully, the participants can be the successor and role model who will become the future leader of the nation," said Fadlil.

Meanwhile, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI), Endah Sulistiawati, S.T., M.T., said that for the first time ADRC 2017 synergized with "Technology Days" which was a celebration for the anniversary of FTI. She was very supportive of this activity. She hoped the participants can show all their potentials in the competition by upholding the values ​​of sportsmanship. (ard)

               Analisa Widyaningrum, S.Psi., M.Psi., a psychologist, presented as a speaker in the Psychology Career Plan 2017 which was organized by Student Executive Board (BEM) of Faculty of Psychology, Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD). Located at the Campus 1 auditorium on Jalan Kapas, the workshop was entitled "Empowering Millennial Generation Potential and Preparing for Career". Held on Sunday, December 24^th, 2017, Analisa, the founder of Personality Development Center Analysis, shared the key to success as a psychologist, as well as a public figure.

               "I am very happy to be present among all my friends here. Thanks to UAD for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to be here, "said Analisa when she greeted hundreds of the workshop participants.

               She, who is practicing at Jogja International Hospital, is not only famous as a qualified practitioner, but also as a highly admired public figure. Many of the workshop participants claimed to be present because they idolize Analisa.

               On the occasion, Analisa shared the ups and downs of his career-building experience to the hidayah she got to wear hijab. "If God allows, if we have good intentions, everything will have its own way. Allah SWT replaces all the things I lost because I wear hijab with something better. Initially, I worked for a skin care company that required me not to wear hijab. After that, Allah SWT gave me an opportunity to work for an Islamic cosmetics brand," she said.

               Since the beginning of the workshop, Analisa did not hesitate to interact with the participants. She was not even shy to shake hands or hug the female participants who claimed to be her fans. She then made it as an example of personal branding.

               "In my opinion, good communication is the key to personal branding. Just imagine, if you idolize me and have followed my instagram account for a long time, but when we actually meet, I just do the greetings without sincerity, or even answer your questions in an unfriendly manner, how would you feel? You will lose your interest, right? Well, first of all, you have to build your character," she explained.

               Analisa also provided personal branding tips, namely passion, vision and mission. First, find out what passion is. According to her, human without passion is like breathing, but not living. The next one is vision. The participants had to have a vision.

               "In the past, when I was in college, I imagined what I would become ten years from now on. I imagine, if people are looking for a psychologist, they will look for Analisa. So, the next one is mission. Everything I do since I was in college is a set of small missions that will take me where I want," she concluded. (dev)

Bekerja sama dengan Majelis Tabligh serta Majelis Pustaka dan Informasi Pimpinan Wilayah Muhammadiyah (PWM) Yogyakarta, perpustakaan Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) menyelenggarakan bedah buku Adicerita Hamka. Buku ini ditulis oleh seorang penulis Barat, James R. Rush.

Bedah buku bertajuk “Adicerita Hamka: Visi Islam Sang Penulis Besar untuk Indonesia Modern” diselenggarakan Kamis (28/12/2017), di aula Islamic Center kampus 4 UAD, Jln. Ringroad Selatan, Tamanan, Bantul. Sebagai pemateri Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Syafi’ie Ma’arif, Prof. Dr. Yinahar Ilyas, Lc.,M.Ag., dan Nasir Tamara, Ph.D.

Pada sambutan sekaligus pembukaan acara, Ahmad Muhadjir, Lc.M.A., mewakili Ketua PWM DIY menyampaikan tentang manfaat diskusi sebagai salah satu sarana dakwah. Selain itu yang tidak kalah penting adalah memberikan contoh kepada masyarakat terkait tokoh yang dapat diteladani seperti seorang Buya Hamka.

Memasuki sesi disksusi, dalam kacamata Syafi’ie Ma’arif, Hamka merupakan seseorang yang piawai dan sukses menuliskan sejarah menggunakan pendekatan psikologis, khususnya pada susastra. “Ia seorang pemikir bebas dan memiliki daya ingat yang luar biasa. Hamka belajar kepada siapapun dan lebih sering keluar rumah untuk menimba ilmu baru,” terangnya.

Dalam kesempatan ini Syafi’ie juga menyinggung UAD yang harus lebih sering melakukan kajian maupun diskusi terbuka semacam ini. Menurutnya diskusi akan membuka wawasan dan memberikan pandangan baru terhadap suatu hal. Ia mencontohkan bahwa minimal harus hidup seperti Hamka, meskipun pada mulanya banyak yang membenci, akhirnya orang-orang yang membencinya nyatanya malah mengakui keberadaan Hamka.

“Memiliki keliaran itu penting, khususnya dalam hal pemikiran dan penulisan. Hamka membuat para pembencinya menjadi orang yang segan dengannya. Melalui karya tulisan-tulisannya,” tukas Syafi’ie.

Sementara Yunahar Ilyas memberikan sedikit pandangan berbeda, dari pandangannya, Buya Hamka adalah sosok yang luar biasa. “Ia nakal, tapi bisa jadi ulama dan penulis hebat. Mari renungkan bersama.” (ard)

Ahmad Dahlan Robotic Competition (ADRC) kembali diselenggarakan pada penghujung 2017. Perlombaan yang telah rutin berlangsung selama 6 tahun terakhir diikuti peserta pelajar dari berbagai penjuru Indonesia. Tajuk utama dari penyelengaraan ini “Mengembangkan Potensi Generasi Muda di Bidang Robotika”.

Berlangsung di Gedung Basiyo XT Square, Rabu (27/12/2017), perlombaan diikuti 122 tim yang terbagi dalam 2 kategori. Kategori robot line follower diikuti oleh 75 tim, sedangkan robot sumo 47 tim. Peserta merupakan pelajar SD, SMP, SMA, dan sederajat yang akan memperebutkan piala gubernur, wali kota, serta rektorat UAD.

Dr. Abdul Fadlil, M.T., Wakil Rektor III, dalam sambutan sekaligus pembukaan acara menyampaikan, ADRC dapat memberi manfaat positif bagi generasi milenial. Mewakili Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD), ia sangat mengapresiasi penyelenggaraan kontes robot berkelanjutan ini.

“Ajang ini merupakan sebuah kebanggaan. Keberlanjutannya sangat penting. Terima kasih atas kerja keras serta inovasi dari panitia dan seluruh pihak yang telah mendukung, utamanya bagi semua peserta perlombaan.”

Setiap tahunnya, ada peningkatan dari keikutsertaan peserta perlombaan. ADRC menjadi ajang silaturahmi dan berbagi ilmu serta pengalaman terkait bidang robotik. Di masa yang akan datang, teknologi semakin maju dan canggih. Kemajuan hanya akan terwujud apabila generasi muda dikenalkan dengan teknologi sejak dini. Kecintaan terhadap teknologi harus ditingkatkan terus, dibarengi dengan kreasi dan inovasi baru.

“Perangkat-perangkat yang dibuat dengan inovasi dari teknologi tidak akan menyejahterakan manusia jika manusianya tidak menguasai teknologi tersebut. Indonesia harus mandiri di dalam teknologi. Harapannya, peserta dapat menjadi penerus dan panutan yang kelak menjadi calon pemimpin bangsa,” tukas Fadlil.

Sementara Wakil Dekan Fakultas Teknologi Industri (FTI), Endah Sulistiawati, S.T.,M.T., menuturkan bahwa untuk pertama kalinya ADRC 2017 bersinergi dengan “Technology Days” yang merupakan peringatan milad FTI. Pihaknya sangat mendukung kegiatan ini. Ia berharap peserta dapat menunjukkan semua potensinya dalam bertanding dengan menjunjung tinggi nilai-nilai sportivitas. (ard)
