Universities Should Be Prepared: Hard Challenges To Come
‘Managing a university will face hard challenges. New universities as the competitors of the existing ones will present soon. They will be well-equipped and well-prepared so that we have to keep pace with the development,’ said Dr. Kasiyarno, M.Hum, rector of University of Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) as he was delivering a speech in front of lecturers and administrative staffs at syawwalan gathering at Auditorium Campus I Saturday (16/07/2016).
There will be more universities to found in the near future among others those ones to be founded by National Police and national enterprises, which are now competing to build universities.
Kasiyarno, who is the chairperson of Indonesian Association of Private Universities (APTISI) Chapter V Yogyakarta Special Province (DIY) hoped that lecturers especially UAD lecturers improve their capacity and contribution for the society.
UAD so far provides a reward for lecturers producing a research report published in a journal. This is done to encourage them to be productive. Moreover, UAD supports them to find scholarships to study abroad.
‘Recently, some UAD lecturers got scholarship to study abroad such as in New Zealand, Hungary, and Australia,’ Kasiyarno said.
The rector, who has occupied his post for his second term, urged the lecturers as well as the administrative staffs to improve their service. ‘Serve them well,’ he emphasized.
